Service at the Library Restaurant and Pub
June 20, 2011 by Anonymous Eater

terribel, horroble service. This evening at around 8 Pm, we waited too long to give our order, had to go in to get another tround of food, had to get our own napkins because the server was focuse on serving a group who seemes to be her firennds. We are billeted in one of the hotels nearby. We will be stayinng in the neighborhood for 2 more days. We are not recommending the place to friends.

Good for the business traveler
February 2, 2010 by Anonymous Eater

Have eaten lunch and dinner at The Library while traveling through Indianapolis on business, most recently in December, 2009. When I'm on the road, I prefer a local restaurant that is comfortable, has decent food, friendly servers and is not noisy. This restaurant fits the bill. I rarely have had to wait to be seated. Overall food quality is good. Wine selection is limited but adequate for the traveler (bottle prices are better than individual glasses). Entree prices are more moderate than the downtown Indianapolis restaurants, and there is no issue with parking. Steaks and prime rib are very good and there are usually some interesting dinner specials. Decor continues to improve -- seems like the owner is trying to upgrade the surroundings over time. Seperate bar area recently re-done and nice, with two flat screen TV's. I will continue to patronize The Library when I am traveling through Indianapolis.

Average. At Best.
July 14, 2009 by On The Road

Was staying in one of the nearby hotels; had dinner at The Library. Large portions, ok ingredients, uninspired preparation. The building has amazing potential; none of it being realized. Steak was good, not the best by any means, but adequate.

I don't know what other restaurants are within walking distance. I will look for something different next time I'm in the area. If not, and if they're still in business next year, I would consider giving The Library another try.

A year later and still bad
December 9, 2008 by Anonymous Eater

Yes I agree the owner did write the raving review. I tried the place last week. What a disappointment. The food is fair, the service is sloppy but the atmosphere is flat out strange. This place suffers a serious identity crisis and lack of imagination. I felt like I was in a bad movie.....I waited 35 minutes for lunch. Not a good time...

Service? Not So Much
September 19, 2007 by Anonymous Eater

Spent lunch break at The Library with a pary of three. It took nearly 45 minutes to get our meals served. The food is good, but the service was horrible. After finishing the meal we asked for our check, waited about 20 minutes, then had to ask again. The waiter seemed not to care one iota if we were suitably served. Porbably the worst service I have ever received in my life.

Terrible
July 17, 2007 by Anonymous Eater

It sure sounds like an owner wrote the review above as only "foodies" use some of the phrases. Also, they seem to know a lot about the clientel, hours of the restaurant, etc...

The pasta was cold, the service was slow and indifferent and the atmosphere was dark and strange.

Indy's best secret!
July 6, 2007 by fragilemagnolia

This restaurant is the best kept secret in Indy. It's located very near the airport, and because it's not really close to many residential areas, its customers are mainly business travellers from the nearby hotels. Because of this, you can get an amazing meal with practically no wait on pretty much every night of the week (they're closed Sundays).

As for the food, the chef they have is UNBELIEVABLE. I had a nice dinner with 9 of my family members so I got to sample everything that was ordered. My favorite was the frutta di mar-a generous variety of seafood over pasta with a slightly spicy marinara sauce. Also, the steaks were perfect. I don't think I've ever tasted better cuts of meat at a restaurant. As an added touch, the chef himself brought out the meal to us (although I don't think this is a common occurance). To end the meal, get the Venus, the chef's specialty, or the chocolate cake. Both were excellent. All in all, you must try this restaurant if you're in Indy.
