Surly Service, mediocre food.

We chose this restaurant for our Valentine's Day dinner based upon local recommendations. As others have noted the hostess was cold and surly. She managed to give you the impression that she was annoyed at having to deal with you. We had looked at their menu on line and were surprised when the menu we were given was a "Special Holiday" one which did not contain several items we were interested in. We selected a shrimp dish for an appetizer. The shrimp were very large but they were slightly undercooked and the special sauce with which they were served was inferior to a standard cocktail sauce. The bread presented was one small slice and the salad was simply a small shallow dish of chopped lettuce with no additional ingredients or garnishes. For our entrees my wife choose a Fillet Mignon and I picked a veal dish. The steak, ordered medium to medium-well, was served well done. When we were able to get grumpy's attention we told here of this. Her response was "So what is it you want me to do about it!!" After recovering from her surly and insolent response we told her to replace it. I don't think the replacement steak was a fillet as it was a bit larger, irregular shaped, and had been butterflied. It also had that powdery texture of having been tenderized. But the flavor was not bad and it was not overcooked the second time. When she brought it she had the audacity to lecture my wife on how to order steak and indicated that the first offering, which did not have even a trace of pink in it, was what she (incorrectly)considers to be medium. My veal was pretty good but not at all exceptional. The quality of the food and service here are poor at any price and certainly a poor value.

If your idea of "European" means waiting hours for your food and a rude hostess, then there's no slice of the continent in the US like this place. Requested alterations (mainly for dietary restrictions) were ignored and even getting a glass of water took an hour. This place bills itself as "too cool for jamestown" but really, be less cool and you'll be far happier with your meal.
