August 7, 2007 by Mike A. We were visiting the Bavarian-esque village of Leavenworth and decided to try some authentic German food. King Ludwig's was recommended to us by our hotel. We enjoyed the food and the experience even more. There was a live German band and the waitresses were wearing old-style German dresses. There was a nice selection of German beers and wines. I had the Oktoberfest beer, which was excellent. For meals, I had the Wiener Schnitzel, which is a pounded-flat veal cutlet, breaded and fried. It came with some red cabbage and rice pilaf. My wife had the Schweinshax'n, which is a rotisserie-cooked ham hock. It came with a potato salad and red cabbage. Both meals were large and good. Definitely recommended if you're in Leavenworth.
