A special that was not "special"

I was at this cafe during a weekday lunch hour. I had the roast beef special. The beef servince was dry and very small, the serving of mashed potatoes and they looked liked they were instant and not real mashed potatoes. The green beans looked like they had come straight of a can and had been overcooked. The beef gravy was good. The dinner roll was also very good, soft and melt in your mouth.
The side of salad of jello and cranberries was fairly tasty.
My waitress was not very attentive to me, and I never got a refill on my water. I had to flag her down to get my check, she was not even attentive enough to see I was ready to leave. There was no one at the checkout when I was ready to go, I had to stand there almost three minutes while the cashier gabbed with some locals.
Overall, this is a quick place to grab a bite if your coming right off I-29. It has a cool circa 1965 feel of an old diner, that is was attracted me, but I did not get that old fashioned value.
I did not try the desserts, but it looks like they had a fair selection of pies.
This place was a real disapointment, I may try it again later, but I will not be coming back to Emily's any time soon.
