My husband and I are thrilled that Born has opened, the food is really great. They rise a step above the other local Thai restaurants, in both unique offerings as well as the old standby's -- all freshly made with the freshest of ingredients. I have tried some new things, like the Tilapia and the Flank steak, they are both wonderful. As well, the soups and the more standard Thai offerings are wonderful as well. I am amazed that there isn't a line out the door.

Good Thai, nice home cooking

Been here about 4 times in the last few months with co-workers and solo. Very nice atmosphere. Service is a tad leisurely but the cooking is first rate. Ginger chicken dumpling appetizer was excellent, the wasabi shumai respectable. The pad thai had a very nice flavor. My companions had had really nicely-presented (and apparently quite good) green and red curry bowls, as well as some sort of beef salad. All were sated.
They have "down home" southeast Asian cooking too, like Chinese sausage with fried rice served on a banana leaf (placed on top of a plate--nice touch, though).
All in all, this place definitely does a nice job with "new wave" Thai cuisine, with reasonable prices (mostly $8-$10 entrees at lunch, $10-$12 at dinner) and a nice atmosphere. Definitely outshines some of the more tired local establishments in the Vienna-Tysons area like Tara Thai and Paya Thai, and I'd put it up there with Natta Thai.
Give it a try while it's still fairly empty at lunch before someone like the Post reviews it and generates a buzz crush.
They have a pretty full bar selection, too.

Hello,
I saw this restaurant on Sunday Washingtonpost. Nice little place in old town, lovely services, the food was so great, but a littlle bit slowver that the I expected, spicy as your requested. I like basil duck with the roti. Fine beer and wine list.
